Charge collection fees

When you need this

You charge for taking a sample, for example Venepuncture for blood tests. Set it once per specimen, and every visit that orders a test on that specimen offers the charge, once per visit. The desk can remove it if the patient came with the sample already taken.

Steps

Before you start: the charge is an item with its price. Add it first, for example Venepuncture, under Setup › Services: see Add your services and their prices.

Set a collection fee:

  1. Open Setup › Tests and click the Collection fees tab.
  2. Choose the Specimen, for example Blood.
  3. Under Charge, type part of the item's name and pick it.
  4. Click Set fee.

Do this for each specimen you charge for. Setting a fee for a specimen that already has one replaces it.

Stop charging for a specimen: click Remove on its row and confirm with Yes, remove.

A partner that charges patients for it itself: open Setup › Partners, open the partner, click Edit on Partner details, switch off Charge collection fees and click Save changes. Its visits then don't add your collection fees. If the partner takes the samples and you pay the fees back to it each month, leave it on and switch on Collection fees are paid to the partner. See Add a partner hospital.

What you should see

  • The specimen and its charge in the list, for example Blood and Venepuncture.
  • On a new visit, ordering a test on that specimen adds the charge. Removed from a visit, it isn't offered again on that visit.

If something goes wrong

  • "No collection fees" and Visits bill only the tests: none is set yet. Set one above.
  • "No products found." under Charge: the item doesn't exist yet, or it has another name. Add it under Setup › Services first.
  • "Couldn't save the collection fees", or "Couldn't load the collection fees": check your connection and try again.
  • There's no Set fee row: your role can see collection fees but not change them.
